Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between NYG compression socks and other brands? +

Most compression socks are stiff, clinical, and a pain to wear. NYG socks are the opposite—feather-soft, easy to put on, and actually stylish. We use real compression (15–20 mmHg) that supports tired legs, swollen ankles, and dizzy days—without the squeeze fight. Designed by people who’ve been there.

What do compression socks feel like?+

They are 15 – 20 mmHg, which means that they are a light compression. This is usually more than enough for people looking for pain relief and reduction in dizziness; however, if you have been prescribed a specific compression level you should follow your doctor’s guidance.

What size are NYG compression socks? +

At the moment we only do one size of compression sock. They are between UK 3–14 (foot length 22-31.3cm). Just click on the 'size chart' button above the add to cart button.)

The maximum calf size is 15 inches (circumference). You can use the size chart to check that they will fit you.We are committed to offering inclusive, unisex compression socks but the world of sizing hasn’t yet caught up.

For the purposes of this chart we've used what would normally be referred to as "women's" shoe sizes. If you typically wear men's shoes or have wider feet, we recommend using the foot length as a guide.

If you are looking for a larger size compression sock we don’t currently have these but you can sign up to the plus size waitlist and will be notified when we increase the size range.

Are NYG compression socks easy to put on?+

Yes—NYG socks are designed to be easy to put on, even with limited mobility or low energy. The soft, stretchy fabric slides on without a fight—no tugging, no wrestling, no tight cuffs. Support that works with your body, not against it.

How long can I wear NYG compression socks for?+

You can wear them for long stretches—some people even wear them in bed. But we recommend giving your legs a break overnight unless your doctor says otherwise.

Don’t wear the same pair more than a day. Swap them out daily and wash before re-wearing to keep the compression doing its job.

If you’re new to compression (especially with POTS), start slow—try an hour at first, then build up. Some bodies need a bit of time to adjust. That’s totally normal.

Can I wear these socks for long-haul flights?+

Yes, our compression socks are perfect for long flights! They help improve circulation, reduce swelling, and prevent discomfort during long periods of sitting.

Can I wear these socks if I have diabetes, varicose veins, or edema?+

Yes, NYG socks offer gentle 15–20 mmHg compression, which is often suitable for people with diabetes, varicose veins, or mild edema. They’re soft, non-restrictive, and easy to wear, even on sensitive days. That said, if you have medical concerns, it’s always best to check with your doctor first.

How do I care for NYG compression socks?+

For best long-term results, wash at 30 degrees, with similar colours, do not tumble try. Wash them after each use, i.e. do not use them on consecutive days without washing them first. Turn inside out before washing. Avoid bleech and fabric softner.

Absolute game changer.. soft, easy to put on with amazing conversation starting designs (they all are fab!)
I now have lots of different designs and even re-ordered more as a gift for my mum!
Oh and they work brilliantly, the relief from my sore, swollen feet/ankle was most welcome..
    Excellent customer service too ☺️
    Highly recommend..

Marvellous after wearing for 2 days the swellig on my ankles had gone down & I wasn’t in pain from my ankles when walking , and certainly much more comfortable than the nhs ones but the compression is not as tight as the nhs socks, so it’s good to alternate them from time to time

My heart sank when the doctor advised compression stockings to deal with swollen feet and ankles. I imagined those awful brown stockings. It was a relief to find out it referred to what I call long socks and there were colourful options like these. I love my pink ones that are fun to wear. I bought socks from 2 other companies to see which worked the best. My NYG pink ones were the most effective at reducing the foot swelling. Sure wish I had not bothered with any other companies.

Super soft and beautiful, i think they are adorable 🥰

I absolutely love how comfy and cute these are, I especially like that there are little UFO’s on them which I didn’t notice at first.

  2. Holly Cram (verified owner)

It didn’t even feel tight, just like normal socks! Super comfy , love the colours too 🥰

  3. Charlie Lawes (verified owner)

Beautiful design and are so comfortable to wear, love these

  4. Elise Russell (verified owner)

Very comfortable socks, have definitely helped my circulation. My only critique is that I wish that they were tighter.

  5. Kirsty Griffin-Price (verified owner)

When you have to wear compression it’s nice to have compression that really doesn’t look like your nans!!! This definitely is a confidence boost! I have suspected POTS and can wear on a day to day basis out of flair when I need a little extra help! But on a daily basis these really help with being able to stick to the normal routine! Dog walking! Work etc! Thank you!

  6. Keith Gifford (verified owner)

Lovely socks when you get them on

  7. Heidi Anukam (verified owner)

They’re ever so slightly looser than my other pair from NYG but still provide some compression. They’re a very cute design and I would love to see more pink designs.

  8. Danielle Capon (verified owner)

I got 4 pairs and I wish I could afford a pair for every day of the week! love them ❤️️

  9. Hannah Hazlehurst (verified owner)

I absolutely love these socks! Although they may be a little mis-named, they seem to have little to do with astrology but certainly contain a lot of astronomy! I especially love the little UFOs. They work really well, I had fluid on my right foot and ankle pain and within a week wearing these socks when I was out and about solved the issue and also delayed it reoccurring when I wasn’t wearing any compression socks. I was also experiencing numbness in my foot due to an issue with my back and these compression socks removed that symptom as well – so they’re really helping my circulation to my foot.
My only gripe is that because they’re one size fits most they do fall down my legs a lot, so I’d not recommend if you need compression there – but they work really well on my foot.

  10. Amy McMurdo (verified owner)

The socks are really cute and they fit well, my legs definitely felt better at the end of a day on my feet, however after only 20 minutes of wearing them with shoes they had gone bobbly at the heel and underneath and looked cheap which is really unfortunate.

  11. Logan Girling (verified owner)

so so good. as someone with POTs and autism, I struggled as compression socks help my symptoms immensely but are sensory nightmares. these are so soft and help my symptoms, not to mention they’re cute as heck. I absolutely love them

I was recently in hospital and as a result I needed to wear compression socks. When I stumbled across this amazing website I knew I had to give them a go! They’ve been great, the socks are very breathable and comfy! Perfect for if you need a bit of compression!
    Thank you!

It was my first time purchasing any sort of compression socks, and now I’m a convert! I was looking for cute designs because other brands are kinda plain! I felt so good after work as compared to days when I don’t wear them. I’m off to order more designs.

my new socks are fab. I have several pairs, they’re all comfortable and have made a massive difference to my circulation.

  15. Darrell (verified owner)

Super cute and fun. A lot brighter than I expected, but still wearable. Very soft and breatheable. Print stretches oddly at upper calf but to be expected for a one size fits most product. Mild compression.

  16. Claire Carden (verified owner)

I love NYG’s socks, I have 3 pairs and I love how comfy they are and most of all how fun the prints are. They’ve been great to wear while working out for my circulation issues!

  17. Julie Munn (verified owner)

Bought these so that I could have an occasional break from hospital-issue compression socks which I am wearing for 6 weeks following a total hip replacement! They are super-soft, super-comfy and so pretty!
